Talk about a HOME RUN...... This one is not just out of the ballpark; it's going to BUILD a ballpark! The Miracle League of Arizona has been awarded a capital grant by the Arizona Diamondbacks for the construction of a Miracle League field in the City of Scottsdale.
During the course of the next several months the MLAZ Board of Directors will be bringing together designers & subcontractors to create for special needs children their VERY OWN ballpark. A number of unique components including rubberized turf, expanded dugouts, Diamondbacks Scoreboard,restrooms/changing areas, concessions stand etc. will all be ADA designed to accommodate our special athletes.
The Arizona Diamondbacks support positions us to fulfill the dreams of our disabled children and their families. Yet this is no time to rest! We now must roll up our sleeves and reach out to all those who share our belief that "Every Child Deserves a Chance to Play Baseball".
Funds are still very much needed to secure the various items/materials (for example, rubberized turf for wheelchairs and other adaptive devises) that will properly address the requirements of our physically & mentally challenged ballplayers.
Within the next month we will have much more news to share about our efforts to construct a ballpark for our special needs children. Please consider being part of our team where MIRACLES DO HAPPEN!!
